Does the FCSO Sponsor Candidates if they aren't already a certified Deputy?YES! The Flagler County Sheriff's Office sponsors candidates and will pay for the Academy Tuition, Uniforms, Books, etc. and provide you with a monthly stipend so you can focus on your studies.

What is the Hiring Process for FCSO?After you submit an application, the Flagler County Sheriff's Office's HR Team reviews your credentials and if you meet minimum qualifications, you'll be invited to a Physical Agilities Test (PAT) for a Sworn position or an interview for a Professional Support position.

How long does the process take to get Hired?Depending on what position you're interested in, the Flagler County Sheriff's Office has an average turnaround time of 3-4 weeks. This timeframe includes getting Fingerprinted, Drug Screened, obtaining a Physical (Sworn), Polygraph (Sworn, Communications) and Psychological test (Sworn, CCTV, Communications, Public Affairs), a thorough Background Investigation and a meeting with the Sheriff.

How long is the Academy?The Law Enforcement Academy at Daytona State College is six (6) months. The Detention Academy at Daytona State College is three (3) months. The In-House Academy at the Flagler County Sheriff's office is approximately six (6) months.
